OH NO!! BROKEN BINDING STRAP!!!

I was riding at Lakeridge and as I headed for a barrel bonk I ollied up and something went terribly wrong. I missed the barrel, turned a 90 in mid air, landed on my heel edge in powder and flew backwards. As I looked up all I could see was my snowboard on my left foot and my right foot flailing away from my board! I had two thoughts in my head: Either through some act of God both my ankle and toe strap popped loose, or I had forgotten to strap in at the top. Neither was the case. I broke my binding strap! It just snapped right off. Take a look at the pictures. I had to drill in a new hole on the strap to ride for the rest of the day, which was fine, but I don't trust it will last the remainder of the season.

I have to chalk this up as a design flaw. One of the adjustments on the binding allows for the straps to be attached lower on the binding. I preferred this setup as it allowed for my ankle to flex more when tweaking in the air. This arrangement, however, caused the strap to rub awkwardly against the baseplate, and I believe that was the origin of the failure. Salomon should have considered that before they placed a hole there. I'll be bringing it into a shop to see if they can have it repaired. It's still under warranty, but I can't seem to find my receipt for it.

Looks like I was wrong about these bindings from my previous post.

Stay tuned for the outcome...
